Canary Islands weather forecast for Sunday: Cooler temperatures and breezy conditions

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) is forecasting a mix of cloud and sunshine across the Canary Islands today, Sunday, with slightly cooler temperatures, particularly inland, where the drop could be more noticeable.
A moderate trade wind will blow across the archipelago, strengthening at times on the southeast and northwest slopes. Light sea breezes are expected along the southwest coasts of the mountainous islands. In the highlands, winds will generally be light from the northwest, increasing during the afternoon.
Sea conditions
At sea, northeast winds of force 4 or 5 are expected, occasionally reaching force 6. Conditions will generally range from slight to moderate seas, locally rough in northern waters. A swell from the northeast of around one metre is forecast in the north, while from the south it will be weaker around the southern coasts of the islands.
Island by island forecast for Sunday 24th August 2025:
LANZAROTE
Partly cloudy in the north, becoming more overcast early and late in the day. Clearer elsewhere, with some high cloud in the afternoon. Minimum temperatures will remain steady, while maximums will dip slightly, with a locally moderate fall in the south. Moderate trade winds, strengthening inland across the south later in the day.
Expected temperature range: High of 27°C and low of 21°C.
FUERTEVENTURA
Mostly clear skies, with some cloud in the west and east early in the morning, and high cloud in the afternoon. Minimums will remain unchanged, with a slight, locally moderate fall in maximum temperatures inland. Moderate trade winds, strengthening south of Jandía in the afternoon.
Expected temperature range: High of 26°C and low of 22°C.
GRAN CANARIA
In the north, below 700–800 metres altitude, partly cloudy skies with periods of heavier cloud early and late in the day. Elsewhere, mostly clear with some high cloud in the afternoon. Coastal temperatures will remain stable, but inland areas may see a slight to moderate drop, especially across northern mid-altitudes. Moderate trade winds, strengthening at times in the southeast and northwest. Sea breezes will prevail in the southwest. In the highlands, light northerly winds will pick up slightly in the afternoon.
Expected temperature range: High of 28°C and low of 23°C.
TENERIFE
In the north, partly cloudy with heavier cloud early and late in the day, at altitudes below 800–900 metres. Elsewhere, mostly clear, with some morning cloud in the west and high cloud in the afternoon. Coastal temperatures will remain unchanged or dip slightly, while mid-altitudes and higher zones could see a locally moderate fall. Moderate trade winds, stronger at times on the southeast and northwest extremes. Breezes will dominate in the west. On the central peaks, light northwesterly winds will strengthen in the afternoon.
Expected temperature range: High of 28°C and low of 23°C.
