Legendary British boxer and regular visitor to Tenerife, Ricky Hatton, has been found dead at his home in Gee Cross, Hyde, Greater Manchester, authorities have confirmed.
Greater Manchester Police reported that a body was discovered at an address on Bowlacre Road at approximately 6:45am this morning, Sunday, 14th September 2025.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and is thought to have been suicide, according to police statements.
The former World Boxing Champion would have turned 47 in October. He publicly battled with issues around mental health and addiction in recent years, and had also announced a return to boxing: a fight was scheduled for 2nd December 2025 against Eisa Al Dah in Dubai.
Ricky was a firm favourite with residents and visitors to Tenerife, regularly seen in bars across Las Americas and Los Cristianos, signing autographs, posing for photographs, and even singing his favourite Oasis on karaoke or with the Dubliner Band.
An official investigation into the circumstances leading to his death is underway.
