An 18-year-old woman is in critical condition following a serious quad bike accident in Los Alares, in the municipality of Antigua, Fuerteventura, according to reports from the Canary Islands Emergency Services.
CECOES dispatched the necessary emergency resources to the scene of the incident, which occurred at around 12:20pm yesterday afternoon (Sunday).
Paramedics from the Canary Islands Health Service arrived at the location given first and found the young woman suffering from several severe injuries.
She was stabilised and transported by ambulance to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura, Virgen de la Peña, where she was admitted in critical condition for urgent treatment.
A man also involved in the crash sustained minor injuries, described as multiple contusions. He was taken to the same hospital for further evaluation.
The Guardia Civil attended the scene and has opened an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
