The over 60’s are out in force in Tenerife and Gran Canaria

Earlier this week the Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands asked anyone living in Tenerife and Gran Canaria that hasn’t received a call or SMS for a vaccination appointment to just turn at one of the four mass vaccination centres, and they listened.

Thousands turned up this morning at the Recinto Ferial in Santa Cruz and the Magma Centre in Adeje in Tenerife, as well as at Infecar in Las Palmas and the ExpoMeloneras centre in San Bartolomé de Tirajana in Gran Canaria, to be inoculated.

These people represent those that are already registered in the health system and have a blue card, but the SCS couldn’t contact them as their details were out of date.

The objective of the initiative is to complete the vaccination process among the target population over 60 years of age, of which more than 90% have already had their first dose, and vaccinate the most vulnerable groups as soon as possible, as stated in the national Vaccination Strategy against Covid-19.

If you fall into this age group and want to go tomorrow, the centres are open between 10am and 5pm so you can just turn up with your official identification and blue health card.
