The same lava flow that destroyed the municipal football pitch in Tazacorte a few days ago, has now entered the centre of the La Laguna neighbourhood in La Palma and destroyed a petrol station, Government buildings, and dozens of houses.

Last night PEVOLCA ordered the evacuation of fifty homes in the municipalities of Los Llanos de Aridanne and Tazacorte, given the advance of the flow that has been approaching the coast for several days.

The emergency services reported through their Twitter account, that residents of Las Matelas (Los Llanos de Aridane) and Marina Alta, Marina Baja, Cuesta Zapata and La Condesa (Tazacorte) must leave their homes and go to the Camilo León arena in Los Llanos de Aridane and the Tazacorte sports centre with essential belongings. There are now more than 7,000 people evacuated in the area affected by the eruption.

Two streams of the lava flow have broken off from another one to the north of the volcano, which entered the urban area of La Laguna, from where 1,500 people have been evacuated. One of the tongues flattened a petrol station, whose fuel reserves had been emptied to prevent an explosion.

Another flow that consumed the football pitch a few days ago is heading towards the school, and barring a miracle will reach the church square and the old town.
