Heavy rain expected in parts of Tenerife, La Palma and La Gomera today

According to the latest forecast by AEMET, a front is approaching the Canary Islands from the west, which is going to bring heavy rain to parts of Tenerife, La Palma and La Gomera, with an intensity of up to 15 litres per square meter in an hour in the north of the islands, and showers in other areas, except the southwest, and the possibility of an electrical storm tonight.

In fact, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated a yellow weather warning for rain from 12pm (midday) until 10pm tonight on these three islands, especially on their north and west slopes.

AEMET expects cloudy skies for this Thursday with weak and occasional rains at the beginning of the day that will gain in intensity from noon when they are expected to be frequent and intense, especially inland and on eastern slopes where they will be in the form of showers, and it is not ruled out that they are locally strong, especially in Tenerife.

In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, cloudy intervals are forecast with probable occasional rainfall during the second half of the day. The temperatures remain with little change and the wind will be variable, light with breezes, and moderate from the southwest in central peaks of Tenerife.

Looking ahead to Friday, the situation continues with cloudy skies with weak to moderate rains in the north of the islands of greater relief, especially in the first half of the day. During the afternoon the rains will be more likely inland. In the case of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, occasional and scattered rains are not ruled out. Temperatures remain with little change and the north component wind will increase and turn northeast during the day.

On Saturday weak and occasional rains are not ruled out, mainly in the north of the islands in the morning and in the east during the afternoon. In the south, clearings will predominate. The temperatures will experience a slight decrease and the wind will continue to blow moderately to the northeast.
