Covid update: Cases rebound to 179 with 97 in Tenerife and 48 in Gran Canaria
The Ministry of Health has reported of 179 new cases of coronavirus today, of which 97 are in Tenerife, 48 are in Gran Canaria, 20 in Lanzarote, 9 in La Palma, 5 in Fuerteventura, and none in La Gomera or El Hierro. There has also been one Covid related death of a 69 year old woman in Tenerife who caught the virus from a family member and died in hospital.
There were 317medical discharges today, so active cases in the islands stand at exactly 2,000 with 230 in hospital wards, 47 in ICU, and 1,723 in home isolation. The Accumulated Incidence rates have increased slightly with the IA7 for the Canary Islands at 40.12 cases per 100,000 inhabitants the IA14 at 80.52 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
