Covid update: New cases stable, active cases drop, hospitalisations drop

The latest data from the Ministry of Health for today, shows a continued downward trend of the spread of the virus as new cases stay stable at 104 in the last 24 hours, active cases drop to 5,019, hospitalisations drop, and one Covid related death is reported in La Palma.

Of the new cases today 49 are in Tenerife, 43 are in Gran Canaria, 7 are in Fuerteventura, and there are 5 in Lanzarote. No new cases have been reported in the other islands. 401 people have been medically discharged today, and incidence rates have dropped to 33.13 over 7 days and 72.84 over 14 days.

As appointments for third doses of the vaccines are already under way in the most vulnerable section of the population, they have also announced that they are looking at giving a second ‘booster’ jab of the Janssen vaccine to increase protection from the virus for those in Group 7 who received the single dose vaccine, although appointments for these are not being scheduled yet.
