Covid update: 175 new cases today, all rates are on the up across the islands

The coronavirus is not going away in the Canary Islands, as the upward trend of epidemiological data continues across the islands with 175 new cases detected in the last 24 hours. 99 of these are in Tenerife, 43 in Gran Canaria, 14 in Lanzarote, 13 in Fuerteventura, 6 in La Palma, and none in La Gomera or El Hierro. There has also been one Covid related death recorded in Gran Canaria.

As of midnight, Fuerteventura has been moved back into Level restrictions with earlier closing times and reduced capacities in bars and restaurants among other things, due to the increase in epidemiological data for the island. However, this trend is starting to happen in Lanzarote, Tenerife, and Gran Canaria as well.

New cases are up, the R rate of contagion is up, the number of Covid patients is up, and incidence rates are up. The Ministry of Health has reiterated the importance of those people who haven’t been vaccinated to do so, and to back this up, anyone who had the Janssen single-dose vaccine, can now just go to a mass vaccination centre and have the booster without an appointment.

The SCS vaccination teams continue to work in the spaces set up on both capital islands (Tenerife and Gran Canaria), to inoculate both first, second, and booster doses.
