Covid update: 146 new cases and two deaths in Gran Canaria and Lanzarote

The Canary Islands starts the week with the tightening of restrictions in Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura, adding 146 new cases of coronavirus, and two Covid related deaths a 78-year-old woman in Gran Canaria and another 49-year-old woman in Lanzarote.

According to data from the Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands the islands now have 4,312 active cases (155 less than Sunday), 74 are in Intensive Care and 321 are admitted to the hospital wards (10 more than yesterday). The rest, 3,917 are under treatment at home.

Of the new cases, Tenerife has added the most with 70 new cases today, resuming the upward trend of the island and consolidating itself as the one with the worst data. Currently Tenerife has over 500 more active cases than Gran Canaria (2,267 v 1,736), more deaths (350 v 213), and now the highest incident rate of all the islands as the IA7 has passed 75.
