Covid update: The curve is bending, 456 new cases today, 209 less than last Friday

The Ministry of Health has registered 456 new cases of coronavirus in the Canary Islands, 209 less than last Friday, taking the total number of accumulated cases to 87,571 since the pandemic began with 15,552 active, of which 101 are admitted to ICU, 425 are hospitalized and 15,024 are in home isolation.

The good news is that the curve is definitely bending in Tenerife, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro as incidence rates have all decreased over the last 13 days, whereas in Gran Canaria and Lanzarote they are still rising slightly.

However, the bad news is that there have been five more deaths in the last 24 hours: two in Tenerife and three in Gran Canaria. Those who died in Tenerife are an 80-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman, and those who died in Gran Canaria are an 87-year-old man and two women, aged 43 and 68 years old. All of them, except the 80-year-old man, suffered from previous pathologies and were already hospitalised.

By islands, Tenerife has added 233 cases today with a total of 42,200 accumulated cases and 8,951 still active; Gran Canaria 191 more today with an accumulated total of 33,398 and 5,929 active. For its part, Lanzarote adds 9 new positives, with 184 active; Fuerteventura has 20 more than the previous day and 435 active.

La Palma adds 1 new case, so it has 39 actives; El Hierro does not add any cases, so it remains with seven active cases, while La Gomera increases its cases by, and has 7 active cases also.
