Covid update: 229 new cases, 127 in Tenerife, 71 in Gran Canaria

The Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands has notified of 229 new cases of coronavirus today taking the total number of accumulated cases in the Canary Islands to 42,725 with 4,248 active, of which 78 are admitted to ICU and 301 remain hospitalized. In the 24 last hours there has been one Covid death of a 71-year-old man in Gran Canaria, associated with the outbreak of the San Lorenzo Social Health Centre.

The Accumulated Incidence at 7 days in the Canary Islands stands at 61.07 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 14 days in 114.80 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, as they continue to rise, mainly due to Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura.

By islands, Tenerife has added 127 cases today with a total of 17,915 accumulated cases and 2,054 active cases; Gran Canaria has 17,560 accumulated cases, 71 more than the previous day and 1,859 active. Lanzarote adds 14 new cases with 4,510 accumulated and 97 active; Fuerteventura has 1,798 accumulated cases with 16 more cases than the previous day and 199 active.
