Covid update: Two Covid deaths in Tenerife today, one is just 29 years old

Today’s information from the Ministry of Health has not only updated the epidemiological data in the islands, but also the traffic light alert levels which sees Tenerife, as expected, drop to Level 1 from midnight tonight. They have also reported that 58 new cases of coronavirus have been detected, and two Covid related deaths in Tenerife have been verified.

According to their website, the deaths were of a 78-year-old and 29-year-old who were both in ICU due to Covid, and the 29-year-old had no previous pathologies and hadn’t been vaccinated.

Of the new cases today, 23 are in Gran Canaria, 20 are in Tenerife, 9 are in Lanzarote, 4 are in Fuerteventura, 1 in La Palma, 1 in El Hierro, and none in La Gomera. The incidence rates are really low now at 18.61 over 7 days and 46.23 over 14 days.

After the announcement of the level changes, there are a lot of green traffic lights and Fuerteventura is the only island not in level 1, but it is more than likely that will happen next week once they’ve had the obligatory 14 days of low-risk data. The alert levels now look like this:
