Covid update: Is today a turning point? 1,496 people released from home isolation

Today’s data from the Ministry of Health is astounding in a positive way. Not only are there just 102 new cases of coronavirus reported, the third day in a row around the 100 mark, but active cases have tumbled due to a massive number of people being medically discharged in the last 24 hours. This was eventually going to happen as it is in the ‘Covid cycle’ for positive tests turning into negative tests, with 1,498 people released from home isolation.

This means that active cases have fallen today to 10,571 with 332 Covid patients in wards (24 less than yesterday), 61 in ICU, and 10,178 in home isolation. There were also four more Covid related deaths today with 2 in Tenerife and 2 in Gran Canaria.

More good news is that the R rate of contagion has dropped again and the percentage of positive tests is within the 4.5% low-risk category. On top of this, the Canary Islands continues to have the second-lowest data in the whole of Spain, with an IA7 of 42.60and an IA14 of 102.71.
