Covid update: Both Tenerife and Gran Canaria have over 100 new cases after Easter weekend

As expected the latest Ministry of Health figures show an increase in the number of new cases, an increase in incidence rates, but also an increase in the number of medical discharges after the Easter weekend in the Canary Islands, but particularly in the two capital islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

They have reported of 231 new cases, of which Gran Canaria has the most with 113, followed by Tenerife with 101, Fuerteventura with 9 and Lanzarote with 8. There were no new cases registered in La Palma, La Gomera or El Hierro in the last 24 hours.

There has, however, been three more Covid related deaths recorded, of two men aged 71 and 83 years old in Tenerife, and another aged 72 in Gran Canaria, which takes the total death toll to 682 since the pandemic began.
