Covid update: Slowly but surely the incidence rates are coming down

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health there are 800 new cases registered today in the Canary Islands and two Covid related deaths in Gran Canaria. An increase was expected compared to the last couple of days, however, hospital admissions haven’t increased much today, there have been 564 people medically discharged, and the R rate of contagion has reduced which has brought down the incidence rates for the Islands.

Of the new cases 375 are in Tenerife, 362 are in Gran Canaria, and the two islands are not far apart with their IA7’s now, with Tenerife’s reducing to 285.37 and Gran Canarias increasing to 251.89. Fuerteventura has had 35 new cases detected today, with 12 in La Palma, 10 in Lanzarote, and 3 each in La Gomera and El Hierro.

The Canary Islands have reported 260 new outbreaks this week with 1,179 people infected, of which 118 have occurred in Gran Canaria, 108 in Tenerife, 14 in Fuerteventura, nine in Lanzarote, eight in La Palma and three in La Gomera. By area in which they have occurred, 116 are family outbreaks, 105 social, 26 work, five in socially vulnerable groups, three sports, two educational, and two social health.
