Covid update: 124 new cases on Easter Sunday, and no deaths

The Canary Islands have registered 124 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, so the total accumulated cases in the islands now rises to 47,492 with 4,765 active, of which 79 are admitted to the ICU and 302 remain hospitalized in wards, according to data from the Ministry of Health of the Canaries Government.

Also, in recent hours, no deaths from Covid-19 have been reported in the islands, where the epidemic has already claimed 679 lives since the start of the health crisis. Of the new cases Tenerife has 60, Gran Canaria 45, Lanzarote 4, Fuerteventura 3, La Palma 2 and none in either La Gomera or El Hierro.

Incidence rates dropped again after two days of relatively low infections, but active cases increased due to there only being a low number of medical discharges over the Easter weekend, so expect a large number tomorrow as Monday is not a bank holiday in Spain.
