Covid update: 159 new cases and 3 deaths today in the Canary Islands

The Ministry of Health has confirmed 159 new cases of coronavirus today taking the total number of accumulated cases in the Canary Islands to 92,444 with 12,240 active, of which 70 are admitted to ICU and 354 are hospitalized in wards.

In the last 24 hours, three people have died with Covid: an 89-year-old woman and an 84-year-old man in Tenerife, and a 79-year-old woman in Gran Canaria. All suffered from previous pathologies and were admitted to hospital.

The incidence rates have continued to decrease for the islands and are now 51.24 over 7 days and 124.82 over 14 days, with all the islands having a 7-day incidence below 60 per 100,000 inhabitants.

By islands, Tenerife, which today has returned to Level 3 of epidemiological alert, adds 81 cases with 7,576 still active, whereas Gran Canaria has added 54 new cases with 4,296 active. Fuerteventura has 15 new cases, Lanzarote adds 6, La Palma has 2, El Hierro has 1, and there were none in La Gomera.
