Covid update: 141 new cases, with more than half in Tenerife

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, the Canary Islands have registered 141 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of accumulated cases to 56,716 since the pandemic began, with no deaths reported in the archipelago from the virus today.

Of the total accumulated cases on the islands, 1,619 are still active, with 32 people admitted to ICU and 197 hospitalized, leaving 1,390 in home isolation, following 174 medical discharges. The number of Covid patients in Intensive Care in the Canary Islands is now half of that a month ago, when 65 people were being treated on May 1st.

By islands Tenerife has the most new cases again with 83, more than double the 34 registered in Gran Canaria. Lanzarote has added 13 new cases, Fuerteventura 11, and there were none recorded in La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro.
