Weather warnings and heat alerts are deactivated in the Canary Islands

The General Directorate of Emergencies of the Canary Islands has ended the alerts for extreme heat in Gran Canaria, as the temperatures have dropped in the archipelago leaving all of the islands on pre-alert, as reported by the regional government.

This decision is made taking into account the forecasts provided by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and other available sources, and in accordance with the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).

A pre-alert situation means there is no meteorological risk for the population in general, although there is for some specific activities or locations, and for highly vulnerable people.

At the same time, emergency resources from the Cabildos and Town Halls continue to be on standby in case of possible changes in the meteorological conditions, until the General Directorate of Emergencies ends the situation declared based on PEFMA.
