Weather forecast for Saturday: 34 degrees with Calima in the Canary Islands

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts less intense haze than previous days today (Saturday) in the Canary Islands, although still present especially in the eastern islands. Minimum temperatures are expected to slightly to decrease, while maximum temperatures could reach 34°C in inland areas of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura and inland areas of Gran Canaria.

Light northeast winds are expected, becoming stronger in the northwest and southeast extremes but decreasing in the afternoon. On mountain summits, winds are expected to become light to moderate from the west in the latter half of the day.

Regarding sea conditions, north or northeast winds of force 3 to 5 are forecast, with a moderate swell that could increase to rough seas in islands such as El Hierro, Tenerife, and La Gomera, although the northerly or northwesterly swell is predicted to only be 1 to 2 metres, with calima present on the coasts of Tenerife, La Gomera, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura.

The island-by-island forecast for Saturday is as follows:

TENERIFE:

Clear skies with high cloudiness in the afternoon and calima mainly affecting the south. Temperatures will slightly decrease except in central summits where no significant changes are expected. Locally, temperatures could reach 30-32°C in the east, south, and west. Winds will be light from the northeast, stronger in the northwest and southeast extremes but decreasing in the afternoon.
Temperatures: high of 32°C and low of 20°C.

GRAN CANARIA:

Expect clear skies with high clouds in the afternoon and calima mainly affecting the southern half of the island. Temperatures will slightly decrease, more notably in the south. Locally, temperatures could still reach 34°C in inland areas, especially in the southern and western slopes. Winds will be light from the northeast, stronger in the northwest and southeast extremes but decreasing in the afternoon.
Temperatures: high of 34°C and low of 19°C.

LANZAROTE:

Expect predominantly clear skies with calima, more pronounced in the latter half of the day. Some morning intervals are expected in the north and east coasts, with high cloudiness appearing around midday. Minimum temperatures will slightly decrease, while maximum temperatures will slightly rise, especially in the north, locally reaching 34°C inland. Expect light variable winds, mainly from the north, with breezes in southeast inland areas.
Temperatures: high of 34°C and low of 18°C.

FUERTEVENTURA:

Similar to Lanzarote. Clear skies with calima, especially in the latter part of the day. Some cloudy intervals are expected in the north and east coasts in the morning, with high cloudiness appearing around midday. Minimum temperatures will slightly decrease, while maximum temperatures will remain largely unchanged or slightly rise in the north. Locally, temperatures could reach 34°C inland. Winds will be light and variable, with northeast breezes prevailing and southeast inland areas experiencing north winds during midday.
