The Ayuntamiento of Gáldar, has reported the presence of Portuguese man-of-war along several of its beaches, including Caleta de Abajo and Los Dos Roques in the north of Gran Canaria.

The council have issued a warning urging residents and visitors to take extreme care, avoid swimming in affected areas, and under no circumstances touch the organisms, as their stings can be extremely painful.

Municipal staff and security teams are currently carrying out monitoring and surveillance along the coastline to track the situation.

The council also reminded the public to follow all flag warnings, signage and instructions provided by authorised personnel to ensure safety while the alert remains in place.
