Two more beaches closed in the south of Tenerife for water contamination

Authorities in the south of Tenerife have temporarily closed two more popular beaches to bathers due to concerns over water quality, marking the third such incident on the island in less than three days.

Adeje Council announced earlier today, Thursday, the immediate suspension of swimming at Playa de Troya I and El Puertito. The decision follows the latest analysis of water conditions, which prompted officials to act as a precautionary measure.

According to the council, the relevant authorities have been notified, and the official protocol for information dissemination, monitoring, and beach closure has been activated to ensure public safety.

"This is a preventive step," the council stated, "and we will reopen the beaches as soon as water quality levels are deemed safe for swimming."

In the meantime, both residents and tourists are urged to observe warning signs and refrain from entering the water at the affected locations.

This marks the third beach closure in Tenerife within a 72-hour period, raising concerns among locals and holidaymakers as summer nears. However, the Tenerife Cabildo recently clarified that no environmental spill has occurred, seeking to dispel rumours and reassure the public.

Officials continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as soon as conditions improve.
