The Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try two men next week accused of sexually assaulting a young woman, and filming parts of the act, they met during the 2023 Carnival celebrations in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Prosecutors are seeking sentences of 19 and 20 years in prison.

According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the woman’s cognitive and decision-making abilities were severely impaired at the time, despite not having consumed large amounts of alcohol and being unaware of the cause of her condition.

The defendants, identified as T.A.P. and A.A.B., are accused of taking the woman to one of their homes in the capital, and “took turns” engaging in sexual acts without her consent over several hours. The prosecution claims they filmed parts of the assault and later shared the footage.

Prosecutors also allege that one of the accused sent images and videos of the incident to a friend on 26th February 2023, again without the victim’s knowledge or consent.

The charges include sexual assault and the unlawful disclosure of intimate material. The Prosecution is calling for both men to pay compensation of €6,000 for physical injuries and lasting effects, and €10,000 for moral damages.
