The sand continues to bury the sunbeds on Playa del Ingles beach

In recent weeks, the sand has been more of a protagonist than ever in Playa del Inglés, one of the main tourist destinations in the south of Gran Canaria.

Not only has the promenade been reclaimed by the sand of the Maspalomas Dunes, but the volume of sand washed up by the tide has increased so much that it has been burying the sunbeds on the beach.

This can be seen in the images shared by Pedro José Franco López on Facebook, a Cultural Heritage technician, recognised for his enhancement of the ethnographic, social, cultural and sports heritage of the south of Gran Canaria.

As you can see, the tide has dragged sand and mud in with it that is almost completely covering the sunbeds arranged on the sandy beach, which is used daily by thousands of tourists and residents.

Every day the sunbeds have to almost be dug out of the beach so that they’re not completely swallowed up by the beach!
