The Meliá Jardines del Teide reopens as a 5-star 'adults only' hotel

The Meliá Jardines del Teide hotel in Costa Adeje has re-opened after an 8.5 million euro refurbishment, as an adults-only five-star resort in the luxury accommodation sector. The investment has been made by the Spanish fund Hotel Investment Partners (HIP), belonging to the American giant Blackstone, one of the largest owners of vacation hotels in southern Europe.

The hotel, located on the seafront next to Duque beach in the south of Tenerife, reopened to guests on Friday (September 1st) after the renovation of all its facilities. It has 12,000 square metres of gardens and terraces, two swimming pools, an outdoor gym and a wellness area. 

After the current investment, the second since 2016 when six million euros was spent, the hotel has 290 completely renovated rooms, with the number of premium rooms increased from 23% to 37% of the accommodation on offer.

There are now The Level rooms with exclusive service: private heated pool, late check-out or access to The Level Lounge, a private area where you can enjoy breakfast, snacks and drinks. In environmental matters, 214 photovoltaic panels have been installed for self-consumption.

HIP explained that because of its new positioning, special attention has been paid to improving and updating the common areas and the gastronomic and leisure offer, to adapt the experience to that of a five-star luxury hotel. The resort now has two a la carte restaurants: Casa Nostra, with Italian cuisine, and Pico Negro, a newly created concept within Meliá Hotels Internacional, which offers “elegant cuisine in a casual atmosphere.” This is complemented by Mosaico, a product cuisine buffet, and two bars.

HIP's strategy for assets like this, with a privileged size and location, involves “creating value through an investment and management plan that allows the repositioning of the hotel and the improvement of the customer experience, which has a positive impact.” in the development of destiny.”
