Popular flight tracking website, FlightRadar24, has published an image on Twitter that shows the how busy Europe's airspace is due to the massive influx of tourists from different countries coming to spend the Easter holidays in the Canary Islands.

It shows a dense concentration of planes in the skies of the archipelago, highlighting the large number of flights that have been scheduled for the week.

As can be seen in the image, the planes are coming from airports all over Europe with different airlines, requiring maximum coordination by air traffic control.

This influx shows that travel has now returned to normal following the pandemic, with the majority of visitors coming from the islands' main source markets, i.e. the United Kingdom and Germany, as they look for a break with some winter sun that they can’t get at home.

For their part, the airport and tourism authorities have implemented measures to combat the increase in air traffic and avoid flight delays. Among these is the extension of airport hours, the hiring of additional personnel, and the coordination between the different airport services to ensure a smoother passage through the island’s airports.
