Police rescue two teenage girls from a hostage situation in an apartment

Two girls have been rescued by the National Police after one of them managed to send a screenshot of their location to a friend, telling her they were in an apartment in Puerto Banús (Marbella) and being prevented from leaving by men with guns.

The alarm was raised at 5am on Sunday morning (13th November), when the girl who had received the message from her friends contacted the emergency services to report what had happened.

When officers arrived at the address they found the two girls inside, who are both under 18, and arrested five young men who were also inside, including one of them who tried to escape and broke his ankle when he fell from a wall.

During a search of the apartment, police found a pistol and a machine gun, which subsequently turned out to be fake, and seized a machete and a knife. According to their statements, the girls had met the men at a disco in Puerto Banús and had gone with them voluntarily to a nearby property for a drink. The police believe that one of the girls already knew the men.

The girls were taken to hospital after the ordeal, but did not appear to be victims of a sexual assault nor were there any signs that they had been subjected to chemical submission.

The investigation into the incident is continuing.
