Maspalomas is set to diversify its real estate market with its first residential development in over two decades. The San Bartolomé de Tirajana Council have approved a significant project by Aedas Homes Canarias S.L.U., involving an investment exceeding €50 million in the town in the south of Gran Canaria.
The development will feature 96 single-family homes in El Hornillo, offering two and three-bedroom options. The project will also include shared amenities such as swimming pools, children’s play areas, coworking spaces, a daycare, gym, and spa facilities. Construction is expected to begin within the next four years.
The project aligns with local urban planning goals to expand the housing market and enhance residents' quality of life. Alejandro Marichal, the Councillor for Urban Planning and Housing, emphasized that this marks the beginning of a broader initiative to increase housing availability in the municipality. Future plans include unlocking land for construction and rehabilitating public housing stock.
"In just a year and a half, we've tripled the number of licences granted," stated Marichal. "This not only provides legal certainty for developers but also stimulates economic activity and job creation in the construction sector."
This residential initiative signals a transformative phase for Maspalomas, moving beyond its traditional focus on tourism to cater to long-term residents. The development reflects a strategic commitment to balanced urban growth, blending modern amenities with sustainable living solutions.
