Man seriously injured in knife attack during attempted robbery in Fuerteventura

A 30-year-old man was left in a serious condition on Saturday evening following a knife attack near a petrol station at the roundabout leading to the port in Costa Calma, located in the municipality of Pájara, Fuerteventura, as reported by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).

The assault took place at approximately 8:55pm which led to a 112 call informing them that a man had been attacked with a bladed weapon and needed urgent medical assistance.

CECOES immediately dispatched the relevant emergency services to the location given, where SUC medical personnel treated the victim, who had sustained a serious chest wound. After being stabilised at the scene, he was transported to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura by ambulance.

The Guardia Civil are leading the investigation and have intensified the search for the suspect involved in the attack as no arrests had been made as of Sunday.

A police spokesperson said they believe the attack was linked to an attempted robbery. Further details on the suspect or potential leads have not yet been disclosed.
