MONDAY WEATHER: Slightly cooler temperatures with some rain showers inland
The Spanish Met Office (Aemet) has forecast a changeable day across the Canary Islands today Monday, 6th April, with increasing cloud, slightly cooler temperatures, and moderate north-westerly winds.
From around midday, skies over the more mountainous islands are expected to turn increasingly cloudy, with a chance of light, occasional rain in inland areas.
Winds will remain generally light to moderate from the north-west. In the eastern islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, stronger gusts are likely during the early morning hours.
At sea, conditions will be moderate, with northerly to north-easterly winds at force 2 to 3, occasionally reaching force 4 or 5. Coastal waters will see slight to moderate swells, while a north-westerly swell of 1 to 2 metres is expected.

Tenerife
Cloudy intervals, with more persistent cloud developing in the north and east during the afternoon. There is a small chance of occasional light rain. Temperatures will remain steady overnight, with slight drops in northern midlands. Daytime highs will ease slightly along the coast and more noticeably inland. North-westerly winds will be light to moderate, with stronger gusts in western coastal areas and the far north-east.
General temperature range: Low of 16°C and high of 23°C.
Gran Canaria
Mainly clear at first, turning cloudier from midday. There is a slight chance of light rain in inland areas. Overnight temperatures remain stable along the coast but dip slightly inland. Daytime temperatures will fall, particularly in mid-altitude areas. Winds from the north-west will be light to moderate, stronger along north-eastern and western coasts.
General temperature range: Low of 17°C and high of 21°C.
Lanzarote
Mostly clear with intervals of medium and high cloud. Cloudier skies are expected in the north and west early and late in the day. Temperatures will remain steady overnight, with daytime highs slightly lower along the coast and more noticeably down inland. North-westerly winds will be light to moderate, with stronger gusts early in the morning in the east and south.
General temperature range: Low of 17°C and high of 25°C.
Fuerteventura
Largely clear with some medium and high cloud. The north and west will see more cloud cover early and late. Little change in minimum temperatures, while daytime highs remain steady on the east coast but fall slightly to moderately elsewhere. Light to moderate north-westerly winds, stronger early in the east.
General temperature range: Low of 17°C and high of 25°C.
