Lanzarote is set to end 2025 with around 665,000 cruise passengers, making it a record year, according to figures shared by the mayor, Yonathan de León, who sits on the Las Palmas Port Authority Council.

Between Friday 26th and Tuesday 31st December, Arrecife will receive 17 cruise ships bringing 40,000 international visitors. From January to November alone, the port welcomed 537,889 cruise tourists, representing a 7.32% rise compared with the same period last year.

The final week of the year includes calls from several luxury vessels, including the MSC Fortuna, Mein Schiff Relax, Wind Star, Le Lapérouse, Queen Anne, and Aida Cosma. On Monday, 29th December, four large ships, Arcadia, MSC Musica, Borealis, and Amadea, are all scheduled to dock.

Mayor De León highlights that Arrecife accounts for more than 32% of all cruise passengers arriving at state-run ports in the province of Las Palmas, which include La Luz and Las Palmas (Gran Canaria), Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura), and Arrecife. Across the eastern Canary Islands, these ports handled almost 1.7 million cruise passengers between January and November of this year.

He also noted the strong interest cruise lines continue to show for Lanzarote, with bookings already in place for the 2026, 2027, and 2028 seasons. Arrecife will remain a home port for several cruise companies and now benefits from two passenger terminals, both inaugurated in 2025.

The growth of the islands' cruise sector is closely linked to promotional efforts led by the Department of Tourism and Commerce, headed by Councillor Eli Merino, who has represented Arrecife at major international fairs in London and Hamburg to strengthen ties with cruise operators.
