Hotels in the Canary Islands rank among Europe’s best according to TripAdvisor

In the midst of ongoing debates about the tourism model in the Canary Islands, and with large-scale hotel projects under consideration by both public and judicial administrations, the tourism sector continues with its appeal to visitors. Airlines, accommodations, and leisure companies are striving to attract travellers for the summer season, hoping to maintain their numbers from previous years.

An essential ally in this endeavour these days, is feedback from past users who contribute to the promotion of the Islands through specialised websites. The leading site in this sector, TripAdvisor, publishes the Travellers' Choice awards annually, which highlight the world's best establishments based on user reviews.

Recently, TripAdvisor released its list of award-winning tourist accommodations, with several hotels from the Canary Islands earning accolades. Notably, two hotels from Tenerife and another from Lanzarote have been ranked among the best in Europe in the luxury and all-inclusive categories.

The Travellers' Choice awards feature nine categories for accommodation, with the Canary Islands are represented in four of them, though with varying levels of success. None of the awarded hotels made it to the global top rankings, and only two are among the best in Europe. The rest are among the top in Spain.

Best of the Best:

Among the most highly rated hotels in Spain are three establishments from the Archipelago. Impressively, one of these hotels is ranked third, just behind hotels in Andalusia and Mallorca.

This hotel is the Iberostar Grand El Mirador, located in Costa Adeje. With over 3,500 reviews, it earns high praise for its luxurious rooms, cleanliness, staff, and the variety and quality of its dining services.

The other top-rated hotels in Spain include the Royal Hideaway Corales Suites in La Caleta (Costa Adeje) in 4th place; Hotel Fariones in Lanzarote (5th place); Mynd Adeje (18th place); Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia in Gran Canaria (22nd place); and Hipotels Natura Palace in Lanzarote (23rd place).

Luxury Category:

The Iberostar Grand El Mirador also stands out in the luxury category, maintaining its overall position while being recognised among the top luxury hotels in Europe, ranking 19th.

Four other hotels from the Canary Islands are highlighted in the Spanish rankings: Royal Hideaway Corales Suites (6th place); Hotel Fariones (8th place); Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia (18th place); and Royal River Luxury Hotel in Costa Adeje (24th place).

All-Inclusive Hotels:

The Iberostar Selection Anthelia excels in the all-inclusive category, securing 2nd place in Spain and 6th in Europe. Located in Adeje and boasting nearly 4,800 reviews, this hotel is praised for its environmentally friendly approach, facilities, dining options, and excellent location.

Another standout from the same hotel chain is the Iberostar Selection Fuerteventura Palace, which ranks 3rd in Spain and 13th in Europe. Additionally, the Iberostar Playa Gaviotas Park and Iberostar Playa Gaviotas, both in Fuerteventura, rank 7th and 9th in Spain, respectively, with Hotel Landmar Playa La Arena in Tenerife rounding out the top ten.

Small and Boutique Hotels:

In the small and boutique category, only two establishments from the Canary Islands are ranked among Spain's best, with one leading the national list. Lani's Suites De Luxe in Lanzarote, which receives perfect scores from its users, is praised for its prime location with direct beach and sea access, and excellent public areas. This hotel also ranks 24th among the best in Europe. The other hotel in this category is Veintiuno in Gran Canaria, which ranks 16th in Spain.
