Haze and high temperatures are returning to the Canary Islands

Temperatures are forecast to experience a slight rise today (Wednesday) in the Canary Islands, primarily in inland areas, and the eastern islands (Lanzarote and Fuerteventura) could be affected by a light layer of high-altitude haze, according to the forecast by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

AEMET predicts mostly clear skies, except for intervals of high-level clouds, with some intervals of low cloud cover in the western islands.

There will be a light northeast wind, shifting to the southwest in higher areas during the afternoon, and in the central summits of Tenerife, there will be a moderate southwest wind with occasional strong gusts in the latter half of the day.

Regarding sea conditions, the wind will generally blow from the northeast with a force of 2 to 4 along most of the Canary coasts. The sea state will be calm to slight, with a northwesterly swell of up to 2 metres.

LANZAROTE:
Expect mostly clear skies with intervals of high-level clouds. Light high-altitude haze during the latter half of the day. Temperatures will remain stable or experience a slight rise. Local temperatures in the southern half of the island could reach 30°C. Light northeast winds, occasionally slightly stronger.
Minimum temperatures 20°C, and maximum temperatures 30°C.

FUERTEVENTURA:
Forecasts are for mostly clear skies with intervals of high-level clouds. In the morning, there could be some low cloud cover on the eastern coast. Light high-altitude haze during the latter half of the day. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged along the coasts and will rise slightly inland, especially in higher areas. The increase will be more pronounced in the maximum temperatures of high-altitude areas.

Light northeast winds, occasionally stronger on the southeast and northwest slopes. Winds will shift to the southwest in the mountain summits during the afternoon. Coastal areas in the northeast and southwest will experience sea breezes.
Minimum temperatures 23°C, and maximum temperatures 29°C.

TENERIFE:
Mostly clear skies with intervals of high-level clouds. There could also be some intervals of low cloud cover, primarily on the north and east coasts.
