Goodbye calima: Clear and sunny skies in the Canary Islands this Friday

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) are forecasting mostly clear skies in the Canary Islands today, Friday, with some cloudy intervals in the northern parts of the islands.

Temperatures will drop slightly as the calima has disappeared, as have the hot winds associated with it. Instead, moderate northeasterly winds are expected, with occasional strong gusts and the chance of very strong gusts in the second half of the day on the northwest and southeast slopes of the mountainous islands. In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the wind is forecast to get stronger later in the day.
