Four Brits are being investigated for falsifying documents to live in Tenerife

The National Police are investigating four British citizens for the alleged crime of fraud for falsifying documents to prove that they had been living in Spain before the end of 2020 when Brexit took effect so that they could apply for residency and stay in Tenerife.

Under the name of ‘Operation Malvinas’, investigators were alerted by the Immigration Office in Santa Cruz to the possible existence of fraud in some of the residence applications they had received.

After carrying out the necessary procedures, the agents detected at least four requests that had been made through false documents of British citizens residing in the south of Tenerife.

Visiting the addresses given on the applications, only one of the four was here on the island at this moment in time, and he was arrested for the ‘alleged authorship’ of two crimes of document fraud.

The investigation is still ongoing and further arrests are not ruled out, as the police are now focusing on the people who had advised or represented these four Brits for questioning.
