Driver rescued after car flips onto side in Costa Teguise
Emergency services were called to a dramatic accident in Costa Teguise last night (Tuesday), after a car overturned onto its side, trapping the driver inside the vehicle.
The incident happened on Avenida El Golf shortly after 12.25pm, prompting a response from firefighters, paramedics and other emergency teams.
When crews from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium arrived at the scene, medical staff were already assisting the trapped occupant. The vehicle had overturned onto its side, leaving them unable to get out due to the position of the car.
Emergency responders confirmed the occupant was conscious and in good condition, but firefighters had to stabilise the vehicle before they could free him.
After securing and supporting the overturned car, firefighters carefully removed the driver using a zero-angle rescue technique designed to minimise movement and reduce the risk of injury.
Once freed from the vehicle, he was transferred onto a stretcher and taken to the ambulance for medical assessment.
Firefighters later returned the car to its normal position, cleared it from the road and cleaned the affected area before the incident was brought to a close.
The cause of the accident has not yet been confirmed.
