Covid update: 122 new cases in the Canaries and 1 death of a 39 year old

The Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands has registered 122 new cases of coronavirus today, but with 225 people medically discharged, active cases have dropped to 2,729 in the archipelago. Of these, 69 are admitted to ICU, 253 remain hospitalized,. And 2,407 are in home isolation. They have also informed of the death of a 39-year-old woman in Tenerife, who suffered from previous pathologies and was already admitted to hospital.

By islands, Tenerife adds 77 new infections today with 1,814 epidemiologically active cases; Gran Canaria has 33 new cases and has 735 active. Lanzarote adds 7 new cases with 146 active; Fuerteventura has 4 new cases and 19 active, and  La Palma registers 1 new case. El Hierro and La Gomera haven’t had any new cases detected on either island.

The Accumulated Incidence rate over 7 days in the Canary Islands stands at 38.88 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and over 14 days at 83.73 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. To date, a total of 1,079,661 PCR tests have been carried out in the Islands, of which 2,397 correspond to the last 24 hours.
