A 46-year-old Scottish woman has died after suffering a heart attack shortly after arriving in Lanzarote for a family holiday.

Mandi Murray, from Scotland, had travelled to the island with her family and had reportedly been in Lanzarote for just one day when she suffered a medical emergency on Thursday, 28th May.

According to reports, her family said she passed away peacefully following the heart attack.

The tragedy has prompted an outpouring of support from friends, relatives and members of the local community. One of her daughters has launched a GoFundMe appeal to help support her father, Derek, during what the family has described as an extremely difficult time.

Within hours of the fundraising page being launched, more than £1,780 had been donated. The total is currently over £5,000.

Mandi’s son, Steven, also paid tribute to his mother on social media, describing her as both one of his greatest critics and one of his closest friends.

He said she was devoted to her family and would do anything for the people she loved. He also described her as a loyal friend who was well known for speaking her mind.
