An Easter holiday heatwave in the Canary Islands

Today (Friday) you can expect mostly clear skies with some light clouds at altitude and slightly rising maximum temperatures, as the Islands heat up for a hot and busy Easter weekend, according to the forecast from the State meteorological Centre (AEMET).

Throughout the weekend the wind will be light from the northeast and temperatures will increase, exceeding 30 degrees in many areas of the islands, particularly Tenerife and Fuerteventura.

The wind will bring some light haze from the east which will affect Lanzarote and Fuerteventura on Sunday. No rain is forecast over the weekend in coastal areas, but there could be some local precipitation at peaks and summits in the more mountainous islands.

As for sea conditions, the weather warnings are still active today and will more than likely be extended, looking at the forecast wind, but the force will drop considerably on Saturday and Sunday, but caution is still advised to the south, west and north of the islands.
