AEMET updates Canary Islands weather forecast due to a storm front

In their latest update, the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has provided crucial information regarding the weather conditions expected in the Canary Islands over the next few days. Contrary to earlier concerns, the Islands are anticipated to be spared from the direct impact of the large storm front, which is set to affect the Azores.

AEMET highlights several key factors that will influence the weather in the Canary Islands over the coming days, which include very strong gusts of wind on the summits of La Palma and Tenerife, a dangerous and deep swell in the sea causing waves of 3 to 4 metres in height in the westernmost islands, and the presence of haze, particularly noticeable in the eastern regions over the weekend.

Weather outlook for the Canary Islands this Friday

According to AEMET's forecast for today (Friday), high clouds will dominate the skies, gradually increasing to cloudy conditions in the west of El Hierro and La Palma from the early hours.

Additionally, a light haze is expected to be present in the easternmost islands (Lanzarote and Fuerteventura), with a possibility of light rain in the west of La Palma starting around midday.

The temperature variations across the Islands are noteworthy, with minimum temperatures on the rise on the eastern side of Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

At the same time, maximum temperatures are expected to increase on the eastern side of the islands while decreasing on the western side of the more mountainous islands.
