AEMET extends the yellow weather warning into Thursday

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) have officially extended the yellow weather warning that comes into effect tomorrow at midday, to include all the western islands as before (Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro) and now Gran Canaria.

They have also now extended it into Thursday for adverse sea conditions and very strong gusts of wind that could reach 80 kilometres per hour at various points in the Canary Islands.

The wind is expected to be worst on the southeast and northwest slopes of the western islands during the second half of Wednesday, with occasional gusts on exposed slopes of the rest of the more mountainous islands.

When there are strong winds there are always problems at sea, and AEMET are warning of large waves, strong currents, and deep swells, so please take note and follow the flags on beaches.
