AEMET activates yellow weather warnings in five of the Canary Islands

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated a pre-alert for yellow weather warnings that will affect five islands from midnight on Friday (16th December).

The warnings are for adverse sea conditions with strong waves that will affect felt in Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, and El Hierro.

 In these Islands, waves in excess of 4 metres are expected from the northwest that will affect the coast and offshore, hence the alerts.

Strong winds from the northwest are affecting the islands today, which have led to red flags on many of the islands beaches, but there are still sunny spells and temperatures of 26 to 29 degrees across the islands.

Some light rain is forecast for Friday in parts of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, when these weather warnings come into effect.
