Emergency services have been attending the scene after a training plane crashed at around 5:15pm this afternoon (Thursday) on Amarilla Golf in the south of Tenerife, after trying to make an emergency landing.
The incident happened shortly after the plane had taken off from Tenerife South Airport. According to local residents, the aircraft came down close to the main road through the Amarilla Golf urbanisation, leaving the road temporarily blocked.
Canarian Weekly spoke to holidaymaker Jasmine Knight, from Northampton, who was at the scene when the plane crash landed. She explained that she was walking down the street with her partner and brother-in-law when the plane came down and was heading directly towards them. "We had to run to avoid the plane when it hit a lampost and trees, bringing it to a standstill before it reached us. I dread to think what would have happened otherwise."

When the plane came to a stop, her partner and brother-in-law helped the two pilots from the wreckage, who fortunately seemed unharmed. Not long afterwards, the emergency services could be heard as police, fire engines, and ambulances arrived at the scene. Following their ordeal, Jasmine and her family returned to their hotel, shaken but feeling lucky they avoided injury or worse.
Images and videos circulating online showed the aircraft on the road, with emergency crews working around the wreckage. It has been confirmed that these were the only two occupants of the plane, and neither suffered any serious injuries.
Traffic in the area was affected while emergency teams secured the scene and began their investigation into the cause of the crash.
The registration of the plane, EC-NME, shows that it is a Reims-Cessna F172M Skyhawk, operated by the Blue Team Flight School (also known as Blue Team Aviation), primarily based out of Tenerife South Airport (TFS).
