A man has been arrested after damaging more than a dozen parked cars by throwing volcanic rocks at them in Arrecife. The incident happened in broad daylight on a central street, leaving several vehicles with shattered windows.

Police confirmed the suspect, a 30-year-old man with a prior record, was detained yesterday afternoon (Monday). Officers reportedly found him carrying three more volcanic stones and arrested him on suspicion of criminal damage.

The attack took place at around 2:00pm, when multiple cars parked along the street were hit by large rocks. Footage shared on social media shows smashed windscreens and serious damage to several vehicles.

Authorities clarified that the rocks were thrown from street level, not from a balcony as initially suggested. The suspect was stopped less than an hour after the incident was reported.

The arrest was made possible thanks to the cooperation of several affected vehicle owners, who quickly alerted police.
