The National Police have arrested two men in Las Americas and Los Cristianos for drug possession and dealing in the south of Tenerife. During the arrests various narcotic substances were seized, including designer drugs such as ecstasy and MDMA, as well as cocaine and cannabis derivatives such as marijuana and hashish.
Both interventions were supported by the K9 canine unit of Adeje’s local police, whose dogs played a key role in locating hidden narcotics.
Dealer Hid Drugs in His Mouth in Veronicas
The first operation took place in Veronicas, the main nightclub area in south Tenerife. Officers spotted a man acting suspiciously and, during a search, discovered that he was concealing five packets of cocaine, two doses of MDMA and several ecstasy tablets inside his mouth.
Despite the risky method of concealment, he was immediately arrested and taken into custody.
Salling to Tourists and the ‘Napkin Trick’
Just 24 hours later, a second arrest was made. On this occasion, officers caught a man red-handed selling of two wraps of cocaine to a group of tourists.
When he noticed the police, the suspect tried to discard the evidence by dropping a napkin on the ground. Quick action by the officers allowed them to retrieve it, finding an additional 17 doses prepared for sale hidden in it.
K9 Dogs Uncover More Hidden Drugs
The contribution of Adeje’s K9 unit was crucial in both operations. The trained dogs swept the surrounding area and detected further quantities of drugs, not only among the suspects’ belongings but also hidden cleverly in benches, lampposts, and flowerbeds, a tactic commonly used to avoid carrying incriminating substances.
11 Drug Possession Fines Issued
As a result of the operations, police arrested the two main suspects and issued 11 administrative fines to other individuals found in possession of drugs in the area.
The actions reinforce security in key tourist hotspots at a time of high visitor numbers, helping to curb low-level trafficking that often targets tourists and fuels disorder in nightlife districts.
