The local police have been involved in a chase through the streets of Las Palmas in Gran Canaria this afternoon (Thursday), tracking down the rider of a moped who was driving on public roads without a licence or insurance.
He was spotted by a patrol car going the wrong way down a one-way street and when they ran the number plate, it came back that the rider was banned from driving and the moped didn’t have any insurance.
Because the officers were going in the opposite direction, they called for back up which resulted in them and four other Local Police cars giving chase of the man in question.
Eventually, he was stopped by the Las Rehoyas roundabout where he was arrested and handcuffed and his motorcycle was inspected. According to official sources, the person involved has been identified as a banned driver and will soon appear in court for two crimes against road safety.
