A man dies after being pulled out of the sea with signs of drowning in Tenerife

A Spanish man, of which no further data has been released, died yesterday after being pulled out of the sea with signs of drowning on a beach located at the mouth of the Barranco de Tahodio, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, as reported by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (Cecoes).

The event occurred around 11:15am yesterday morning when the Cecoes call centre received a call informing that a man had been pulled out of the sea by two members of the public who had seen him floating in the water.

The caller said the man had signs of drowning and that he needed immediate assistance so Cecoes immediately dispatched the necessary emergency resources to the area.

After verifying that the victim was in cardio-respiratory arrest, other people who were at the scene began to give him CPR, and as soon as SUC personnel arrived, they continued to give basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation manoeuvres to revive him, but without obtaining results, and could only confirm his death.

This is the second fatality over the weekend after a 52-year-old man in Lanzarote drowned off the coast of Playa Blanca.
