Hunt for Anna and Olivia Day 7: Blood in boat is not either of the two girls

It is a week now since Anna and Olivia, the two girls aged 1 and 6, disappeared with their father, Tomas Gimeno, after he failed to return them to their mother. The police have searched at sea, after his boat was found drifting outside the port of Guimar, his home in the north, his work place in the south, along the coast of the island, in other islands, and an international arrest warrant has been issued against Spain’s most wanted fugitive.

It has been confirmed by investigators that the analysis of the blood found on the boat owned by Tomás Gimeno, shows that it is not that of his daughters, but belongs to Gimeno himself. This is a crucial piece of information for researchers, as the remains of blood represent a key piece of evidence in the investigation that is being carried out.

They have also discovered that the GPS system on his boat has been disconnected, presumably so that movements of the boat can’t be tracked at a later date.

The Guardia Civil is continuing with several investigations on the ground, including a second search at the Igueste de Candelaria house that took place yesterday, Monday, this time with the intervention of agents from the central operational unit (UCO), to see if they can uncover any further clues, and create a reconstruction of the events of last Tuesday night.

The UCO investigators, who deal with the highest profile cases in Spain, have also been interviewing their mother who has confirmed that Gimeno contacted her on the night of their disappearance saying: “You will never see me or the girls again”, and are puzzled by the idea of a possible tragic end, since he also suggested that "I will take care of them so that they are well cared for, do not worry, but you will never hear from us".

Investigators are still waiting to receive the information from various banking entities required by the court that is investigating the case for the crime of kidnapping, to find out if he could have made any other movement between bank accounts, and to confirm if he took out a significant amount of cash in the days leading up to his disappearance and that of his daughters. They are expecting this information later today.
