Good news as today’s airport strike is called off after two hours

Baggage handlers at Gran Canarias Gando airport started day 3 of their strike at 10am this morning but were called back to work after two hours. A meeting was scheduled for today between the unions and Groundforce representatives, and it is believed that an agreement has been reached to improve workers conditions.

The decision to end the strike has been applauded by all as last Wednesday and Saturday thousands of travellers from all Europe were affected by flight delays, lack of airport services, and not having their luggage on the plane when they left the island or off the plane when they arrived.

Although there are no official details yet, it is understood that an agreement has been made which will end the strike altogether, and will mean no more problems for tourists returning to the island. Details are set to be released and confirmed on Monday.
